Samsung And Google Postpone Launch Of Nexus Prime

Samsung Galaxy Nexus / Nexus Prime

After the leaks over the last few days we were all pretty sure that Samsung was going to announced the Nexus Prime at its Samsung Unveiled Event on 11 October in San Diego – the first smartphone to be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, this event has now been postponed.

In a combined statement, Samsung and Google said:

Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.

The fact that the statement was from both companies lends credence to the idea that the event was for the Nexus prime and the launch of Android 4.0. However, we have no idea what has caused the delay – as if it was a problem with the phone or the OS then this is pretty late to be noticing. It may be that the date may have conflicted with something like the Steve Jobs funeral or similar and the companies have delayed the announcement of the iPhones main competitor out of respect. We just don;t know at this point.
