Apple iPhone 4S Sales Top 4 Million In Opening Weekend

iPhone 4S

Whilst the world’s newspapers and blogs (including this one) were not hugely excited by the iPhone 4S – it appears that consumers certainly do want to own one with over four million being sold within the first 48 hours. That makes it the fastest selling iPhone in history.

The original iPhone took 74 days to sell one million, the iPhone 4 sold three million in three weeks, and the Android flagship Samsung Galaxy SII sold five million in the first three months. This blows them out of the water. How many of these sales were due to fanboys and hype is debatable, with over a million sold on pre-order before anyone got to play with one – but the stats alone are impressive and shows the public wants Apple products more than ever.

The iPhone 4S is available in the US, UK, germany, France, Australia, Canada, and Japan with 22 more countries to come on 28th October, and more than 70 in total by the end of 2011.
