ASUS Eee Pad MEMO 7″ Tablet Featuring Tegra 3 CPU For $249

Whilst Android tablets have in general not sold particularly well in 2011, this was as much to do with price as it was a fragmented Android. The non-Apple tablets that did sell well in 2011 were the HP TouchPad during its Firesale that brought the tablet down to £79, and the Amazon Kindle Fire that hit the US for $199. Price, therefore, seems to be a determining factor for sales.

ASUS has taken note of this and have just shown off the Eee Pad MEMO – a 7″ Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) tablet that is packing the quad-core nVidia Tegra CPU all for just $249. It will also feature 1GB of RAM, 16/32GB storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, MicroHDMI, a SIM card slot and offering up to 8.5 hours of battery life.

2012 looks to be the year of tablets becoming mainstream as the prices drop to less than half of what they were just 12 months ago.
