Clive Sinclair looks to crowdfund new Spectrum Vega gaming computer

Early personal computing pioneer Clive Sinclair is looking to crowdfund a new micro-controller computer, the Spectrum Vega, that will cost less than £100 and come with 1,000 games pre-installed.

Sinclair has listed the project on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, where he hopes that the project will reach its £100,000 target in the next two months – and they have already raised nearly £10,000 in the first 24 hours, so it looks promising.

If the project reaches it target, the rubber-keyed controllers will be sent out to the early backers in April 2015.

The Spectrum Vega is essentially a controller that plugs directly into the TV, so there is no need for a separate console, and not only comes with 1,000 games, but will also be compatible with 14,000 old Spectrum ZX titles which you can download for free online.

The Vega has been developed by Chris Smith, a former ZX Spectrum games developer and Retro Computers Ltd, of which Sinclair is a shareholder.
