Criterion Takes 75% Equity In TV Streaming Service SeeSaw

SeeSaw is the digital streaming service launched with much fanfare last year by Arquiva, bringing together many of the pieces of the failed BBC, ITV, and Channel4 backed Project Kangaroo which fell foul of the Competition Commission. It offers more than 3000 hours of UK television available for free streaming from across the main three UK broadcasters in an easy to use interface, but has found little favour with the public and was said to be on the verge of closing its doors until Criterion, the current owners of social network Bebo.

SeeSaw is a great product, but with the BBC, ITV and Channel4 now working together on YouView, which seems to overlap heavily with the service it will be interesting to see how Criterion will make a return on their investment.
