The reason that more Android smartphones are sold than iPhones is due to their being Android phones for every user – from the budget friendly options like the HTC Wildfire S, to the most up-to-date with leading specs such as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This contrasts directly with Apple’s business model that revolves only around expensive high-margin phones. The 8GB 3GS is the cheapest iPhone available at the moment, and that retails at nearly double the price of a Wildfire S, whilst the latest 64GB iPhone 4S is the most expensive mass market phone available. With phones for each type of consumer, and prices to match – Android phones have taken a huge market-share in only a short space of time, although with the latest Nokia releases – Windows Phone will be catching up quickly.
