Storywheel Adds Sound, Colour, And Personality To Digital Storytelling

Music Hackdays always create amazing new ways for users to interact with music or audio more generally in the digital landscape, but it is Storywheel from by Johannes Wagener and Katharina Birkenback has particularly caught my attention today. The service, created at Berlin Music Hack Day 2011, offers users a way to mashup SoundCloud streams and Instagram photos to create stories with a personality.

SoundCloud today reached the milestone of 10 million users and used the Storywheel service to tell their story of their musical startup from its humble beginnings in a Berlin coffee shop to its current status as audio host of the web. Reading the story is interesting enough, but Storywheel has allowed them to add their own personality to the story – letting you hear their story from their mouths, hearing their excitement, and then seeing it in pictures.

The web has long been used by people to tell their own stories, but Storywheel adds some sound, colour, and personality.
