Apple Trialling A6 Chip Production Without Samsung

We have covered the recent legal spat between Apple and Samsung ad nauseum with all its international fallout, but it appears Apple are trying to distance itself even further from the South Korean giant by trialling Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) for the manufacture of their next generation A6 chips.

The Apple A6 is the follow up chip to the Samsung manufactured 1GHz dual-core A5 which is currently found inside the iPad 2 (and likely the iPhone 5 soon too). Apple has recently tried to move to LG for display manufacturing at the expense of Samsung, but they found issues with the LG screens, but as such a big customer Samsung will certainly be feeling the sting of Apple’s litigation produced change in suppliers.
