BSkyB, Eurostar, EA, And BT To Be Twitter’s First UK Advertisers

TwitterFor a little over a year Twitter has offered US advertisers access to its suite of advertising products – namely Promoted Tweets, Promoted Trends and Promoted Accounts, but from today these will also be available to UK advertisers the company has announced.

The first advertiser to make use of these UK Twitter ad products is BskyB, promoting the latest season of television show Glee, but over the next few months users will see ads from the likes of Electronic Arts, Eurostar, Paramount, and BT amongst others. These ads are also geo-targeted, allowing advertisers to only promote their products to local and more relevant audiences – although why this wasn’t offered from the start is a mystery as it is a standard feature of any other advertising solution.

Whether users appreciate the Twitter advertising products or not, they will be more likely to approve of them when they are at least being targeted geographically – seeing ads for US sales is just a frustrating experience.
