Japan has a bit of a history of getting some of the best compact digital devices before the rest of the world, and this doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon – with SoftBank the Japanese mobile carrier announcing the Autumn/Winter phone line-up.There’s a good bit of breadth to the phones on offer, but here’s some of our favourites:
Sharp AQUOS PHONE 102SH
A rather stylish and slimline offering with a 4.5″ 3D capable 720p screen, a 12MP camera capable of shooting 1080p, a 1GHz dual-coe CPU (TI OMAP4430), 1GB RAM, e-wallet ability and even a digital TV tuner. All that running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and coming in at just 9.7mm thick.
Panasonic LUMIX Phone 101P
Perhaps the most interesting of the selection as it brings Panasonic’s impressive LUMIX photography brand to the smartphone arena – which should hopefully mean we can finally lose our point-and-shoots and replace them with our phones. Yay. The 101P offers a 4″ QHD screen, a 13.3MP LUMIX camera with “Mobile Venus Engine”, the same 1GHz dual-core CPU (TI OMAP4430), and also packs in the e-wallet and digital TV tuner into its 9.8mm thick body.
Sharp AQUOS PHONE 104SH
Another highly spec’ed smartphone from Sharp with a 4″ 720p display, a 12.1MP camera, and a speedy 1.5GHz dual-core CPU (TI OMAP4460), along with the TV tuner and e-wallet function – and it’s a beauty running Google’s soon to be released Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
I just hope we get these before 2012!
