HTC has announced that a number of their smartphones will be getting the Android upgrade from 2.3 (Gingerbread) to 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) – which brings with it a whole host of improvements. These updates will be delivered through HTC’s carrier partners, so we have no firm information on dates as yet – but they should be coming early next year.
Don’t worry if you’re phone hasn’t made this list so far though, as it is not final and HTC may be adding Ice Cream Sandwich support to other phones as well. Early Android phones are unlikely to get the update as they may not have the hardware capable of supporting it – but in a statement, the company have said:
We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich.
