The BBC has finally released an iPlayer app designed specifically for the Apple iPhone (and iPod Touch) with 3G streaming across all mobile networks. This comes many months after the launches of the iPad and Android apps, which has meant iPhone users were left using the admittedly decent web app.
The app will allow users to channel hop between live radio and TV streams as on a normal radio or television, as well as background listening (something you can’t do with a web app), and improved resilience to network congestion (read: less stuttering). All this packaged in a lovely new and easy to use design. At last!
