Asus are not the only technology firm creating tablet hybrids that work beautifully and independently as Android tablets, but also come with a keyboard shell that offers more connections and battery life – Lenovo are stepping up their game with the IdeaTab S2.
Lenovo have just announced this second iteration of their IdeaTab range at CES 2012, with the device featuring a 10.1″ IPS touchscreen 1280x800px display, a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon 8960), expandable memory up to 64GB, an 8MP camera with autofocus and an LED flash, 1080p HD output through a MicroHDMI slot, and 3G and WiFi – all running under Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). As a thin (8.69mm) tablet, it will offer 9 hours of web browsing, but sit it in the dock keyboard and that length of time jumps to 20 hours – you’re not going to see that with netbook.
The “clam dock” Lenovo use to fit the two pieces together looks to be a breeze as well – the hybrid market just got interesting…
