Samsung has long led the Android smartphone race with its Galaxy S line and most recently the Samsung built and Google-branded Galaxy Nexus, and in 2012 it looks like they’ll continue to dominate the smartphone arena with the Galaxy S3. The South Korean company may have said that they were not launching the superphone and MWC this month, but that has not stopped the details leaking, and here they are:
- 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor
- 4.8-inch “full HD” 1080p resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio display
- An 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera
- Ceramic case
- 4G LTE
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
That sounds like the smartphone to beat in 2012 to me and will have all the other Android manufacturers and even Apple running to catch up. The ceramic back should alleviate the main complaint about Samsung’s previous offerings feeling a little plasticky in the hand, and a 4.8″ 1080p screen. Wow. I just hope I can wrap my hands around that form factor.
