I’m not sure that the Olympics really needs an official phone, but rumours are that it will be Samsung’s upcoming flagship Android superphone – the galaxy S3. I was curious why Samsung was holding its launch event in London only, rather than in New York or elsewhere that actually has 4G to show off – and a marketing push to coincide with the biggest event on earth looks to be a perfect reason.
The 2012 Olympics will give Samsung a platform to push their phones into everyone’s minds, and with a phone that is packing a 1080p display, a quad-core Exynos processor, and 4G support that might persuade people to look at it over an iPhone 4S. That’s the theory anyway.
