We review a lot of headphones and earphones on TechFruit, but we are always keen to find new brands to test and so were pleased when Chinese retailer Banggood got in touch and sent us the latest Blitzwolf true wireless earphones to review – the not-very-catchy-named BW-FYE5 TWS
Thanks to running a music blog for over a decade, I listen to a lot of music, and add to that the number of podcasts I’m subscribed to and you will understand how important earphones are to me these days. Most earphones I review, especially true wireless ones, generally start at around £80, so when I get a pair offering similar features for under £30 that is always going to make me take notice.
Look & feel
The first thing you notice when you unpack the BW-FYE5 earphones you are struck by how small the charging case is – it’s one of the smallest we’ve used and that means it will fit into the pocket of even the tightest jeans with ease. The case is made out of a textured plastic that looks and feels quite premium, and the lid snaps open and closed with a reassuring click.
Inside you have the two earphones. Made out of a solid shiny black plastic, the earphones feel solidly-built and are shaped with a slightly longer stem into the ear canal and a smaller rubber earbud than most other true wireless earphones we’ve seen lately – if anything this longer stemmed design reminds me of Klipsch-designed earphones I have owned in the past.
On the top of each earphone is a dark plastic button with a circular ring of lights that can flash red or blue (or both) depending on what you are doing with the earphones. The earphones look fine, but possibly not quite as premium as the rubberised matte plastic earphones of some competitors (which are three times the price).
Setup
The BW-FYE5 earphones are setup in a pretty similar way to most wireless earphones today, and involves three steps:
- Turn off the Bluetooth on the smartphone
- Press and hold the button on each earphone at the same time until the red and blue lights are blinking/spinning (around five seconds)
- Switch on Bluetooth on the smartphone and select “BW-FYE5” and connect
That’s it.
In use
Once you have paired the earphones with your phone, they will then repair as soon as you switch them back on by taking them out of their case and holding down both buttons – a simple process.
The BW-FYE5 earphones are relatively comfortable, but for the shape of my ears I would have preferred slightly more of the stem covered in softer earbuds rather than just the tip. Nonetheless, the fit was pretty secure and the earphones stayed firmly in place during a quick run around the block.
The sound quality was good for the price, with podcast audio nice and clear. Whilst I would have preferred a slightly tighter bass and more treble in the mix, music is reproduced with a relatively neutral if slightly loose overall sound.

Conclusion
For those looking for their first foray into the world of true wireless earphones, the BlitzWolf BW-FYE5s offer impressive value for money. You can find better sound quality and battery life elsewhere, but not for the price – at under £30 you will struggle to find anything that comes close.
