Only a few days after the internet was lit up with the news of fake Apple stores in China, Bloomberg is reporting that the Chinese authorities have shut them down.
Unlike the various stores around China that sold fake knock-offs of Apple, these stores were selling genuine Apple kit, but were not “authorised resellers”. Yu Cheng, who owns three stores such stores claims to be “doing Apple a favor” and has tried becoming authorised but with no luck from Cupertino. Actual authorised resellers obviously do not share Cheng’s view and claim that such stores “have a negative impact on our products and brands.”
