B&N Nook Color 2 Launching Within Weeks

Nook 2

In a bid to steal a good bit of thunder from Amazon’s new Kindle tablet, Barnes & Noble are set to release version two of the Nook Color, the little e-reader that could, by the end of this month. We don’t have any futher details, but it seems very likely that the device will run Android (we’re hoping Gingerbread), and will have an improved spec over the last device both in storage and CPU power – all within the same 7″ form factor and screens provided by TPK Holdings. We’re also hoping that B&N won;t have made the device any harder to root to get a full flavour Android version running on it – something which certainly added to the popularity of the original e-reader/tablet.

Digitimes is reporting that the Nook 2 suppliers, Inventec and Pegatron, would be able to supply two to three million units of Nook Color 2 by the end of 2011 – which should mean we will have an announcement very soon.
