Just-Eat Acquires Urbanbite

Online Takeaway Provider Just-Eat Acquires Online Corporate Food Delivery Service Urbanbite

Just-Eat Acquires UrbanbiteJust-Eat has been gaining recognition and traffic over recent months for providing hungry people a convenient and online way to order food from a wide variety of takeaways covering every cuisine, and they have now expanded into corporate side of things with the acquisition of Urbanbite.

Just-Eat offers takeaway services across much of Europe as well as in India, Canada, and Brazil, but it is Urbanbite’s London and corporate focus that made it so attractive. As people are working longer hours, takeaways are now routinely ordered to offices and Urbanbite lets employees charge the takeaway to their corporate overlords – currently at the rate of about 9,000 corporate orders per month.

Just-Eat was able to fund the acquisition, which followed those of RestauranteWeb (Brazil) and Hugry Zone (India), thanks to a $48 million funding round completed in March 2011 to aid “aggressive expansion”.
