People Want An Amazon Tablet

Samsung, Motorola, and others have all released Android tablets in recent months but have barely dented the market share of Apple’s iPad. However, according to market research performed by Retrevo of US consumers last month, people seem to be waiting for an Amazon tablet to be produced after seeing the success of Amazon’s Kindle e-reader.

It is unsurprising that people are also keen on seeing a cheaper alternative tablet as the $499 of Apple’s iPad and similar prices of its mainstream competitors is still considered an expensive outlay for a device that is superfluous even if desirable for consuming content and portable. How much more people value price over screen resolution or better input features is an interesting discovery however with all the talk of retina displays in Apple’s likely iPad refresh.
