For many of us, the commute is but a distant memory. We’ve forgotten what it feels like to not just get out of bed and start work. But it seems it’s only a matter of time before the commute will kick off again and it won’t be long before we’re waking up in cold sweats with the realisation that packed train carriages, motorway traffic and the typical daily delay become a thing of the present once again.
But do not fear, there are ways in which you can take your mind off your commute, and below we’ve run down three of the best ways that technology, and more specifically, our smartphone can make that back to commuting life a little more bearable…
Games
The world has gone gaming mad over the last 12 months and it’s likely we’ll see more playing on train carriages and buses globally when we get back to the daily grind.
One type of gaming that has really skyrocketed in recent months is online casino, with slots and table games perfect for a quick game via our mobile devices. There are dozens of brands now on the market, ideally suited to the commute, including brands like GenieRiches which have been a fabulous addition to the industry, bringing that extra bit of sparkle with an inventive and unique mysterious concept, which if you play your cards right, really can grant you three wishes.
They are one of a number of brands that are entering the market at just the right time and offer a great solution to keep your head down and avoid what’s going on with the commuters surrounding you. And of course, it isn’t just casino games, you’ll find the likes of puzzles, shooters, arcade games, and more can also be a great accompaniment to any commute.
Listen to podcasts
If you want to avoid the sniffling, the annoying man chatting to his friends way too loudly on the phone, and the many other rather insufferable noises found on public transport, then you need to get those headphones in. The radio or music via the likes of Spotify and Apple Music are always an option, while there are more podcasts on the market than ever before.
From sports podcasts to comedy, history, food and drink, music, and much more, you can find a podcast to suit any interest and they can provide a wonderful escape, particularly for those longer commuting trips.
Use Google Maps
If your commute will be from the comfort of your own car, then the main frustration will be traffic, but there are dozens of sat naves and map apps which can find the best route for you. You may know your way to work inside out. In fact, you probably do. But you can’t predict things like accidents or backlogs of traffic for reasons outside of rush hour, so it’s always worth having an app on your phone as a back-up to pull through live traffic data and guide you through any unnecessary delays without a hitch.
