Apple Airpods

‘Why are my Airpods so quiet?’ and your other Airpod questions answered

Do you have questions about AirPod problems like “Why are my AirPods not loud enough?” or other similar concerns? Not sure how to repair or troubleshoot your Apple AirPods?

If you’re panicking, it’s understandable. These are expensive, revolutionary hearing devices, after all, and you’ll want to get the most bang for your buck.

Don’t worry; we’ve come up with a few solutions to not only that question but other common AirPods problems as well. Keep on reading to get the answers to some frequently brought up problems.

Why are my AirPods so quiet?

Several factors could affect the volume of your AirPods and how effective they still work. You’ll want to take into account several things like it’s current battery life and the range limit. Also, consider outside factors, like if they’ve been physically or water damaged.

There are also settings for the AirPods called “Hearing” that lets you adjust how balanced the volume for each AirPod is. They should be at the same level if you haven’t changed the settings.

Another cause of AirPods not being loud enough is if you’re using them on an Android device. There are features in the AirPods that let them interact with iPhones and iPad. Android devices don’t share those same features and it may affect its volume.

Pairing problems

If you’re having trouble pairing your AirPods to your phone, the first thing you can do is to put them back into their case. Wait ten seconds and try again.

If you still can’t pair the AirPods then you can try turning off the Bluetooth on your phone or tablet and turn it back on. Try and reconnect again and, in most cases, this should work. If they still refuse to pair, you can try and reset the AirPods which should fix the problem.

AirPods won’t charge

There are two versions of the AirPod cases released. The older ones that don’t support wireless charging and the newer ones that do. If you’re using the wireless charging and it doesn’t work even after resets, you can just switch to cable charging.

If charging it the good old fashioned way still doesn’t work, there might be a problem with the cord. If charging cords bend too much, it will affect how effective their charging is.

Doing this didn’t solve the problem? Something might be blocking the charging port. Make sure to clean it properly and fish out any debris that got stuck.

If your AirPods still won’t charge, you might want to look into professional AirPods troubleshooting.

Missing AirPods

Like with a missing iPhone, you can use Apple’s “Find My iPhone” to locate missing AirPods. If they’re on and still have power, you can see where they are on your phone with a location fix. If they’re off because of low battery, as long as they’re still in their case, you can see their last location.

Automatic dropped calls

The quickest fix to calls dropping when you’re using AirPods is to only use one AirPods instead of both. If that doesn’t work, you can try and set the microphone pickup on the AirPods to either the right or left one in the Settings. This should fix the problem but if it still drops calls, you can turn off “Automatic Ear Detection.”
